MID-SEASON TRYOUTS
NorCal Elite Mid-Season Tryouts – January 18th 2026

Mid-season tryouts are a great opportunity for players to join NorCal Elite as we gear up for the spring and summer tournament schedule. These sessions allow us to evaluate new talent and place players in an environment that fits their current skill level and development goals.

While our returning teams are already in season, we use this period to fill open roster spots and introduce new athletes to our system. Players will be evaluated on their fundamentals, basketball IQ, and ability to compete within a team setting.
This is a perfect time to get integrated into our program, develop your skills, and prepare for the busy spring and summer circuit with NorCal Elite.

PROGRAM DETAILS
SEE BELOW FOR THE PHILOSOPHY AND DETAILS THAT HAVE MADE NORCAL ELITE ONE OF THE TOP AAU PROGRAMS IN CALIFORNIA:
PHILOSOPHY
Our players develop a STRONG foundation in man-to-man defense, and truly develop offensive skills in our position-less system. Rather than spend time on zone defense or set offensive plays that might help our teams win now, our focus is on instilling great habits and skill that translate to high school basketball and beyond. Finally, our players are challenged and encouraged to be the best they can be in all of the intangibles of the game, including communicating on defense, rebounding, offensive decision making, and the most important skill in basketball, PLAYING HARD.
COMPETITION
NorCal Elite is recognized as one of the most competitive programs in Northern California. With multiple teams at each grade level, we are able to find the best competitive level for our players and teams to improve throughout the year. Our teams travel once a year, with an option to do more, and our highest level teams compete in multiple travel tournaments throughout the year.
PRACTICE
Our teams practice twice per week, with a focus on individual skill development and offensive and defensive breakdowns similar to a high school/college practice. Practices are fast paced and intense as we reinforce great habits, advanced skill, and use live play to improve in game like situations. We take pride in CHALLENGING our players in our practices, and when our players get to the high school level they are definitely prepared.
COACHING
NorCal Elite coaches are professional coaches who in most cases coach or have coached high school/college basketball, and/or played at a high level as a player. Please click here for a list of our talented coaching staff.
OPEN RUN NIGHTS
For much of the year we have "Open Run Night" on a Friday each month. Players are placed on teams and compete amongst their grade level in fast-paced, full court 3v3 games. Our coaches supervise, but allow the players to play in an open, free environment with less instruction. Open Run Night is a favorite of the families in our program as players get extra opportunities to play with different players, in different roles, with less direction from coaches in a player led environment.
FACILITY
NorCal Elite is run out of the Ultimate Fieldhouse in Walnut Creek, one of the finest basketball facilities in the west region. With six hoops on each court our workouts are efficient and we maximize repetitions. The Fieldhouse has also been the home of the NBA G-League Ignite team, Steph Curry camps, and the Jr. NBA youth basketball championships.
